Do you know where your edge is? It is time to get serious about getting rid of your debt. If you do not own the roof over your head and you are saving for a rainy day you are totally missing the point. It is raining now and it about to start pouring on you.  I remember 16% mortgage rates and 20% prime rate, wage freezes and gas lines. Those days are going to be fun days compared to the near future.

If you are saving for the future you had better take care of the present. If you are debt free and own the roof over your head you will be able to weather what ever the future holds for us. However, if you owe money to the bankers and you’re still socking away money in 401ks that like to turn into 201ks and maybe even a 101k, you are making a major financial mistake. If you step back and look at history and the big picture you will see that financial chaos is just around the corner and the government will need to confiscate (tax) 50 to 90 percent of you retirement money. They already can, and will, take up to 35%; soon to be 40% or more.

What can you do to protect yourself? Get rid of your debt! Own the roof over your head and the car in the garage so you can sleep at night and get to work in the morning to put food on the table smell the roses once in a while, and then save for the future.

Folks, it’s not all doom and gloom; it’s not the end of the world if you prepare NOW! For those who are smart enough to prepare it can even be an enjoyable future.  In the 1930′s, at the depth of the depression, 75% of the folks were still employed; and those who were debt free and prepared, did ok for themselves.

Is the class half full or half empty; for those who prepare it can be completely full; for those who ignore the obvious, everything will evaporate and the glass will be bone dry?

It’s time to take charge of your present situation so you can have a better future and not be subject to the whims of others.
